Mars Settlement – Journal of Mars Exploration and Settlement article title color navigation: A Symbolic Representation of Mars Transformation

The red–blue–green color sequence symbolizes the transformation of Mars from an inhospitable planetary environment into a potential home for humanity. Red represents the natural Martian landscape, blue the process of scientific exploration, and green the emergence of sustainable human settlement. This visual progression is applied both to the journal and its online version, reflecting Mars Settlement’s mission of advancing knowledge toward the future of Mars habitation.

The red–blue–green sequence therefore functions as a symbolic representation of Mars's transformation: from a natural planetary world, through scientific exploration and technological understanding, toward the possibility of a sustainable human future. It connects the reader's interaction with the journal to its central intellectual objective: advancing knowledge of the conditions required for meaningful, feasible, and enduring human settlement on Mars.

In this sense, the color system is both an interface convention and a conceptual statement. Every article title becomes a visual passage through the stages of planetary transformation, reflecting the journal's interdisciplinary commitment to understanding Mars not only as a destination for exploration, but also as a potential environment for the future of human civilization.

The journal publishes original research, review articles, theoretical contributions, and methodological studies addressing the scientific, technological, biological, medical, social, ethical, legal, and philosophical dimensions of establishing a sustained human presence beyond Earth.
