Article Processing Charges (APC)

1. APC Policy Overview

Feline Coronaviruses (FeCoV) is a fully Open Access journal, meaning that all published articles are freely available online to readers worldwide without subscription or pay-per-view fees.

To sustain the journal's publication infrastructure, editorial management, peer-review coordination, copyediting, typesetting, online hosting, digital preservation, and archiving services, an Article Processing Charge (APC) is applied upon acceptance of a manuscript.

Feline Coronaviruses (FeCoV) does not charge any submission fees, page charges, color figure fees, or other additional publication-related costs.

The applicable APC is determined according to the author's country of affiliation and the journal's applicable waiver and discount policy.

3. APC Exemptions

The following article categories are fully exempt from Article Processing Charges:

  • Book reviews

  • Commentaries and letters to the editor

  • Invited articles

  • Guest editorials

  • Articles authored by members of the Feline Coronaviruses (FeCoV) Editorial Board

  • Articles authored by guest editors of special issues, subject to editorial approval

Additional exemptions may be considered at the discretion of the Editorial Office in exceptional circumstances.

4. Payment Process

APC payments are required only after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.

Authors will not be asked to make any APC payment during submission or peer review. An invoice and payment instructions will be provided following acceptance.

Accepted payment methods may include:

  • Bank Transfer / Wire Transfer

  • Western Union

Detailed payment instructions will be provided by the Editorial Office together with the invoice.

Authors requiring clarification regarding payment procedures may contact the Editorial Office before making any payment.

5. Funding and Institutional Support

Authors are responsible for arranging payment of applicable APCs. However, authors are encouraged to investigate whether their institution, research funder, university library, or other funding body provides financial support for Open Access publication.

Authors are strongly encouraged to:

  • Consult their institution's library or research office regarding APC funding

  • Check whether their research funder provides Open Access publishing support

  • Investigate institutional agreements or memberships that may reduce or waive APCs

  • Contact the Editorial Office if financial assistance is required

Feline Coronaviruses (FeCoV) may provide APC discounts or waivers for authors from eligible low-income countries and for authors experiencing genuine financial hardship.

Requests for APC waivers or reductions should normally be submitted before acceptance of the manuscript. Requests will be considered independently of the editorial evaluation of the manuscript.

6. APC and Editorial Independence

Feline Coronaviruses (FeCoV) maintains a strict separation between editorial decision-making and financial considerations.

  • The ability or inability of an author to pay an APC does not influence editorial decisions.

  • Manuscripts are evaluated solely according to scholarly quality, originality, methodological soundness, scientific significance, and relevance to the journal's scope.

  • APCs are requested only after formal acceptance.

  • APC payment does not influence peer review, editorial evaluation, or publication decisions.

  • Editors and reviewers are not involved in determining an author's ability to pay.

The acceptance of a manuscript does not depend on an author's financial circumstances.

7. Refund Policy

APCs become payable following formal acceptance of a manuscript. The submitting or corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the applicable APC is paid.

Refunds may be considered in the following circumstances:

  • Duplicate payments

  • Erroneous payments

  • Payments made in error

  • Withdrawal of a manuscript after acceptance due to exceptional circumstances, subject to editorial approval

No refund will normally be issued once the manuscript has entered the production process, including copyediting, typesetting, or online publication.

Any refund request should be submitted to the Editorial Office with the relevant invoice and payment information.
