ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES (APC)

1. APC Policy Overview

Neuropsychiatry Case Reports is a fully Open Access journal, meaning all published articles are freely available online to readers worldwide without subscription or pay-per-view fees. To sustain the journal's publication infrastructure, editorial management, peer-review coordination, copyediting, typesetting, hosting, and archiving services, an Article Processing Charge (APC) is applied upon acceptance of a manuscript.

Neuropsychiatry Case Reports does not charge any submission fees, page charges, color figure fees, or any additional publication-related costs.

The following categories are fully exempt from Article Processing Charges:

• Book reviews

• Commentaries and letters to the editor

• Invited articles and guest editorials

• Articles authored by members of the Neuropsychiatry Case Reports Editorial Board

• Articles authored by guest editors of special issues (upon approval)

4. Payment Process

APC payments are required only after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication. Invoices are issued through the submission system upon acceptance.

Authors are responsible for arranging APC payments; however, many institutions, research funding agencies, and Open Access mandates provide financial support for such fees.

Authors are strongly encouraged to:

• Consult their institution's library or research office regarding APC coverage

• Check if their funding agency has Open Access publishing provisions

• Explore institutional membership agreements that may waive or reduce APCs

Neuropsychiatry Case Reports offers discounted and waived APCs for authors from low-income countries and in cases of financial hardship. Requests for waivers or reductions should be submitted prior to acceptance.

6. APC and Editorial Independence

Neuropsychiatry Case Reports maintains a strict separation between editorial decision-making and APC policies:

• No manuscript is rejected or accepted based on the author's ability or inability to pay the APC

• Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of scholarly merit, originality, clinical significance, and relevance to the journal's scope

• APC payments are processed only after acceptance and do not influence the peer-review process in any way

7. Refund Policy

APCs become payable upon acceptance of the manuscript. The submitting (corresponding) author is responsible for ensuring payment.

Refunds are issued only in the following cases:

• Duplicate or erroneous payments

• Withdrawal of the manuscript after acceptance due to exceptional circumstances, subject to editorial approval

No refunds are issued for manuscripts that have already entered the production process (copyediting, typesetting, or online publication).
